Principal's Message

I want to extend a warm welcome to each of our incoming and returning students and families as we open up another exceptional year at Hedden Elementary. Even before we closed out the last school year, we started to make plans for 2018-2019, and our staff have continued to prepare throughout the summer. We are excited to welcome our most important members of our learning community, our students, back into their classrooms.

Over the course of my three-year tenure at Hedden, I have been so pleased by the personal and academic growth of our students, and I anticipate this year will be even better. To help further our growth, the Fife School District has continued to review and adopt new materials to support our staff and students to be more successful. Last school year we implemented our new Bridges 2 Math materials, and we saw an immediate impact on our students' engagement and success.

This year we are implementing Reach for Reading as our new English Language Arts (ELA) materials. Staff will be getting initial training in August, as well as ongoing training throughout the year, and I'm sure we'll see an impact on our students' achievement by year's end.

While we have tremendous staff working with students throughout the building from the beginning of the day to the end, we know that the biggest impact on a child's success comes from home. It's important that we partner together between home and school to ensure our students attain the greatest possible success. I look forward to working with and alongside our whole learning community as we continue to make Hedden an even better place for our students to engage in their education, and prepare them for success as lifelong learners.
